Reminder: Please do not enter CHCC if you are sick or if you have been exposed to any virus. Your cooperation helps prevent the spread of illness to vulnerable adults and to the workers who care for them.
Every day, we see the faces of those receiving care here light up when they are able to communicate with a family member or special friend. Connecting with loved ones really brightens their day! You can use any of the methods presented below to connect with a long-term care resident or therapeutic rehabilitation patient at CHCC.
In-person indoor visits
To visit someone who is receiving care at CHCC, please abide by these instructions and policies for indoor visits:
- Visitation hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
- Wear a surgical mask (provided by CHCC) and use alcohol-based hand rub upon entry.
- Schedule large group visits 24 hours in advance by calling 360-354-4434 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Scheduling large group visits will ensure that adequate space is reserved.
- Visits can occur in the resident’s room if the resident’s roommate agrees. If a roommate does not want visitors in the room, visits will take place in a designated space outside of that room.
- If visiting someone on transmission-based precautions, the visitor will wear full personal protective equipment, including a KN95 or N95 mask, gloves, gown and goggles or a face shield.
- Visitors are welcome to enjoy a meal with their loved one either in their room or at tables outside the dining room. Please note that the dining room is reserved exclusively for residents.
- Visitors may bring homemade food or items purchased from restaurants or other commercial establishments for the resident. Catering through CHCC is also available. A menu can be found below in Catering.
- Obtain prior approval (call 360-354-4434) to bring a pet on a leash or in a carrier.
Outings
- Schedule outings at least 24 hours in advance. To schedule an outing, call 360-354-4434 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Scheduling in advance is not required but is highly recommended so that staff can have the resident ready for the outing and adjust their daily schedule as needed (therapies, personal care, meals, etc.).
- Scheduling outings in advance also helps ensure that residents have medications they need and that they are signed out at the nurse’s station.
Video visits
CHCC uses iPads to help residents and patients connect with their friends and family. Video visits — using a variety of apps — are arranged by appointment through our recreation department. At least 24 hours’ notice is required. To schedule a video chat, call 360-354-4434 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For planning purposes, we recommend making recurring appointments on set days and times.
Cards and letters
Mail arrives every day, with the exception of Sundays and holidays. Include the recipient’s first and last name when addressing the envelope. Use this mailing address: C/O Christian Health Care Center, 855 Aaron Drive, Lynden, WA 98264.
Phone calls
Residents and patients can use personal cellular devices at their own expense. A landline phone is also provided in each room. Call 360-354-4434 any time and ask to be transferred to your loved one’s room. Our reception desk is open daily between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Please try to align phone calls with those hours to minimize disruptions during overnight hours.
Flower deliveries
Highly-fragrant flowers — such as Oriental lilies, hyacinths, lilac stems and Easter lilies — can cause people who live and work here to have allergic reactions. Highly scented flowers cannot enter the building, so they should be excluded from any bouquets that are delivered. Recommended flowers: tulips, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, dahlias, hydrangea, calla lilies, daffodils, ranunculus, snapdragon and poppies.
Catering
Food and beverage items can be ordered and served at CHCC for regular visits and special events, including everything from coffee, tea and cookies to top sirloin, wine-poached salmon and oven-roasted turkey.
