Each spring, a mother duck returns to an enclosed courtyard at Christian Health Care Center to lay her eggs. It’s a peaceful, protected spot—but once the ducklings arrive, they need a little help reaching the water.

This year’s hatching happened April 15. As always, CHCC staff stepped up to guide the duck family safely to nearby Fishtrap Creek. Since the mama duck can’t be caught, team members gently gathered her babies into a bin and began the walk across campus. Right on cue, she followed close behind.

Helping these little ones find their way to the creek has become a beloved tradition at CHCC—a reminder of how care and compassion show up in many forms. Whether supporting our residents or shepherding ducklings, CHCC’s team is always ready to lend a hand (or a wing).
We’ll share a few photos from the journey so you can enjoy the smiles, flapping feet and happy ending along with us.
