Providing spiritual support to all

CHCC recognizes the importance of spirituality in daily life and in the overall well-being of many of our residents.

Our spiritual support team is available to those looking for comfort, compassion, counseling and prayer, regardless of their faith. We also are respectful of the wishes of residents who prefer not to participate in faith-based activities.

Long-term care residents at CHCC are blessed to have access to a variety of faith-based services, including counsel with a chaplain, tuning in to virtual services and attending small group Bible studies.

In addition, residents who are served by Whatcom Hospice receive spiritual visits through that program on a weekly basis.

The following schedule shows programs typically available to residents, family members, caregivers and employees at CHCC:

2 p.m.: Hymn sing and spiritual service provided on a rotating basis by local churches, including Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Wiser Lake Chapel and CrossPoint Church.

No scheduled programming.

10:30 a.m.: Hymn sing

10:30 a.m.: Scripture and hymns (2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesday)

10:30 a.m.: Communion with scripture and hymns (2nd Wednesday)

2 p.m.: Memorial service (4th Wednesday)

11 a.m.: Bible study small groups

1 p.m.: Bible study small groups

“The healing process is not just medical. It’s also emotional and spiritual. All of these come together to help people heal or find comfort in difficult situations. The chaplaincy program is one of the services we offer that’s not available at many other facilities.”
