Transportation
When you can’t be here, we will help your loved one get where they need to be!
CHCC’s friendly care team, and our professional and courteous drivers, work collaboratively with Whatcom Transit Authority and family members to transport those under our care to medical appointments, social events and even to family gatherings.
There are four options for addressing the transportation needs of your loved one while they are here at Christian Health Care Center for rehabilitation or for long-term care:
- Appropriate friends and family provide transportation to and from medical and social appointments. Cost: Free.
- Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) contracts with Northwest Regional Council (NWRC) as a broker to provide Medicaid transportation. It is non-ambulance transportation to all people eligible for Medicaid who have no other means of transportation to covered medical services. Cost: Free for Medicaid patients.
- Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) provides transportation within their route boundaries. Note: CHCC staff can apply for WTA services on behalf of your loved one and coordinate access to WTA rides. Cost: $1 per ride paid directly to WTA.
- CHCC’s private vans and paratransit buses can be hired to provide transportation within Whatcom County in most cases with 48-hour notification. Cost: Varies based on distance; please ask to see current rate sheet.
