We continue to hear from community members who ask how they can help CHCC during this global health care crisis.
One way you can help is by sewing and donating facemasks for CHCC team members.
All team members — even those not involved in patient care — are currently wearing masks during their shifts to further protect residents and each other from the potential spread of germs. This is part of our effort to plan ahead and take additional proactive measures.
Like many health care centers in Whatcom County and around the world, we at CHCC are hoping to supplement our existing supply of masks with handsewn versions. Individuals with sewing skills, a stash of fabric and a generous heart can use their newfound spare time to make masks for CHCC residents and staff. That would be such a blessing!
There are two versions of handmade facemasks that CHCC can accept:
Donated fabric masks should be placed in a plastic zipper bag and dropped off in the box that has been placed outside the rehab entrance at CHCC (behind 855 Aaron Drive). Masks also can be mailed to CHCC at 855 Aaron Drive, Lynden, WA 98264.
The fabric must be 100 percent cotton, and it should be laundered before sewing to reduce shrinkage. Masks will be laundered again upon arrival at CHCC.
If you have any other PPE to donate (N95 masks, eye shields, goggles or gloves) we would be thrilled to receive that as well. All donations are being accepted during normal business hours.
Once again, thank you for your willingness to share your time, energy and sewing skills! You are playing an important role in the fight to protect everyone who lives and works at Christian Health Care Center.
