Construction on Northwest Adult Day Health & Wellness Center is moving along nicely. Exxcel Pacific Construction began working on the the 5,730-square foot facility in early January and dirt work is well under way.
Christian Health Care Center administrator Wayne Steenbock said he expects construction to be completed and doors to be open by the end of August 2015.
The new building, located at 851 Aaron Drive in Lynden, is adjacent to CHCC’s skilled nursing facility, and next door to Lynden Manor Assisted Living. Positioning an adult day health program near assisted living, skilled nursing and therapeutic rehabilitation services will provide a valuable continuum of care for elders.
Designed specifically for NWADH participants, the new state-of-the-art building will include plenty of windows for natural light, gathering areas for socializing, smaller rooms for special programs and an enclosed courtyard for outdoor activities.
NWADH is currently the only adult day health program in the county and will be open to residents from Bellingham, Lynden, Nooksack Valley, Blaine and surrounding areas.
Management of the adult day health program in Bellingham was assumed by CHCC on January 1, 2015 (formerly operated by PeaceHealth St. Joseph). The program now called Northwest Adult Day Health & Wellness Center, will continue operating at its current Bellingham location until the new building is complete, then the program will transition north to Lynden.
Northwest Adult Day Health & Wellness Center’s program is designed to provide respite breaks for family caregivers and offer fresh experiences for users to build strength and maintain independence. Learn more by visiting https://www.facebook.com/northwestADH.
