CHCC’s dietary manager, Carol DuBois, has become certified as a proctor for ServSafe, enabling her to administer and oversee food safety exams.
ServSafe is a program from the National Restaurant Association that trains food service workers in various aspects of food safety, including general food handling, allergens and alcohol. With her new status, DuBois is now able to proctor tests for those in the area who want to gain ServSave certification.
According to the ServSafe website, proctors are responsible for the secure administration of the print and online Food Protection Manager Certification Exam, in addition to scheduling exams and maintaining the confidentiality of exam content.
The first test that DuBois proctored was a ServSafe Food Manager test for Dave Hand, a chef from Sodexo who works alongside Carol in CHCC’s own dietary department.
Sodexo is the company hired by CHCC to manage our dietary program. An international company, Sodexo helps organizations around the world handle their food service needs.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sodexo is not currently offering classroom-style testing for ServSave certifications. DuBois stepped in to help out; now that she is able to offer the test, anyone in Whatcom County who needs certification can come to her for help.
Carol Dubois has been CHCC’s dietary manager since 2015. Her extensive training and experience in health care food service make her a great asset to our residents and the entire community.
