A smile, a hug, a shake of the hand — every day, we see how simple acts like these from Christian Health Care Center volunteers can put huge smiles on the faces of our residents. There’s nothing like positive human interaction to brighten someone’s day, and it’s for that reason that we’ve implemented our volunteer program.
We can’t thank our wonderful volunteers enough for how much they contribute to the family environment at Christian Health Care Center.
National Volunteer Week takes place each April, which provides an opportunity to offer volunteers our thanks and to and share ideas for how other community members can get involved in serving the elderly at our long-term care facility in Lynden.
To all of our volunteers: THANK YOU for what you do to make life better for those around you. You’re the best, and we couldn’t serve this community without you.
Want to get involved? Here’s what you can do:
There are numerous ways for volunteers to help at our Lynden health care facility. For starters, take a peek at our list of opportunities to see whether anything here suits you. Opportunities include playing the piano, giving a manicure, leading in song, managing our reception desk, and writing a letter on behalf of a resident. There are many more ways to help, of course. Check out the full list.
If you’ve found something that suits you, please review the application and background check forms on our website. If you want to chat about an opportunity, or if you have another idea for a way to get involved, get in touch. We’d love to hear from you!
One more shout out:
Speaking of volunteers, we can’t let this post end without giving a shout out to the inimitable David Kreps, who has been volunteering on the CHCC board of trustees since 2003.
He’ll be stepping down at the end of April after 15 years of helping guide this nonprofit care facility. A retired Puget Sound Energy engineer who is well-known in various volunteer capacities throughout Lynden, Kreps has had two different family members live with us at CHCC. That has provided him — and the board — with special insight on the direction of our long-term care facility. His advice and expertise has been invaluable over the years, and we’ll miss him. Thanks for everything, David!
