Tonja Myers
Executive Director
As executive director, Tonja Myers provides leadership for the facility and works closely with the board of trustees on strategic and long-range planning. She also monitors quality assurance goals, ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and supports residents and their families in many ways.
Heather Lewis
Director of Nursing
As CHCC’s director of nursing, Heather Lewis leads our health care team and directs all aspects of the facility’s 24-hour nursing team. An RN, she helps keep residents safe by ensuring caregivers are properly trained and makes sure the facility complies with State and Federal guidelines.
Karen Jemison
Assistant Director of Nursing
Karen Jemison, an RN, supports the director of nursing by making daily rounds to assess patient needs. She also coordinates quality assurance, infection control, central supply programs, and staff training.
Mary Wynstra
Human Resources Generalist
In this role, Mary Wynstra manages recruitment, selection, new hire orientations, personnel policy development and staff training. She also serves as CHCC’s EEO officer. In addition, she coordinates programs related to safety and emergency planning, oversees CHCC’s compliance program and is involved with various quality assurance and process improvement projects.
Jenaye Phillips
Director of Social Services
Jenaye Phillips directs our social services team as they assess care needs upon admission and prior to discharge. The department works closely with representatives of St. Joseph Hospital, Whatcom County Hospice, assisted living facilities and adult family homes to ensure patients have access to appropriate care providers.
Sarah Thomas
Head of Admissions
Sarah Thomas works closely with CHCC’s management team, residents and their loved ones. Her primary duties include identifying the care needs of potential residents, overseeing the admission process and communicating with Whatcom County healthcare providers.
Katie Taylor
Medical Records Coordinator
Katie Taylor coordinates our medical records systems to ensure accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with state and federal requirements. She uses several facility and state computer systems to input physician orders, ensure patient files are accurate and respond to medical records requests.
Dianne Anderson
Staff Development
Dianne M. Anderson is responsible for staff development at CHCC. She teaches CHCC’s popular nursing assistant training class, which is one of the highest rated programs in Washington state. Dianne is also certified by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), with a long-term care focus. She is our infection preventionist and coordinates medication audits for nursing staff.
Emily Mooney
Director of Therapeutic Recreation
Emily Mooney manages our therapeutic recreation team, ensuring that those who live here have access to life-enriching and therapeutic activities, which may include purposeful crafts and games, sensory gardening, virtual experiences that help residents relive past memories and e-bike rides on Lynden trails.
Joe Savage
Director of Rehab
As director of rehab, Joe is reponsible for all of CHCC’s inpatient and outpatient therapy services via a partnership with Infinity Rehab. Joe and his team help individuals restore lost movement and function by assisting with basic mobility and balance, pain relief, strength restoration and exercise. Joe is a doctor of physical therapy.
