We count some pretty special people among our team at Christian Health Care Center. Every day, those who work here — nurses, NACs, cooks, chaplains, housekeepers, you name it — bring comfort to families and provide compassionate care to those who need it. That’s something we take pride in.

The importance of the health care services provided at Christian Health Care Center is one reason we make it a priority to take care of those who work here.

After all, it’s not just residents and rehab patients who need help. Health care workers, too, need to pay attention to their needs as individuals or their own health and wellness can be at stake.

We strive to be an employer who goes the extra mile to show team members how much we — and our residents — appreciate them. Here are a few examples:

  • CHCC has an anonymous employee suggestion and kudos system so everyone feels empowered to note areas that need improving or to shine a light on staff who deserve special recognition. In fact, it was an employee suggestion that led to our computer-system upgrade, which has allowed staff to spend less time doing administrative work and more time caring for residents. That has been a positive change all around.
  • Competitive wages and benefits. One important way we show appreciation for health care workers is to do our best to offer competitive wages and benefits. We frequently assess the local job market and adjust wages and benefits as needed. This helps CHCC hire and retain qualified and experienced health care workers. One additional perk is that staff get a discounted rate at Homestead Fitness Center.

Make work fun! We frequently look for fun ways to brighten the day of CHCC team members. For example, we brought in massage students to give relaxation. We also organized a fun step challenge and awarded prizes to the top finishers. Every day, we provide soup in the lunchroom to ensure that everyone has access to a nutritious meal. If you’ve ever worked in health care, you know how tough it can be to take time to eat properly! There are also Halloween costume competitions, retirement parties, recognition awards, visits from the ice cream van in the summer, and staff BBQs. We know how to have fun at work!

Caring for those who care for our community

A great many people who live in the Lynden community had a loved one or friend pass through these doors at some point since 1956. When their loved ones have needed long-term care, they often turn to us. That’s a big responsibility to our community, but it’s also an opportunity — for our staff to see not just how much CHCC values them, but how much the entire Lynden community cherishes and relies on them during certain life points.

CHCC is a community-minded workplace with deep roots in Whatcom County, and we do our best to live up to that legacy every day. We do our best to take care of the people who are tasked with caring for beloved individuals in our community.
