On a sunny, windy afternoon, several hundred community members gathered in front of Christian Health Care Center to celebrate a milestone 70 years in the making. From infants to older adults, neighbors of every generation came together July 23 to enjoy games, visit with friends, admire vintage vehicles and celebrate the community that has supported CHCC since 1956.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us. Whether you have or had a loved one at CHCC, have volunteered, worked here, supported our mission, live nearby or simply stopped by to celebrate, your presence made the day memorable.
One of the day’s highlights came as vintage vehicles began arriving. We had planned to display just a couple of classic cars, but as people saw vehicles lining up, more owners volunteered to bring theirs. By the afternoon, in addition to two vintage tractors, there were seven beautifully restored vehicles on display—seven vehicles for 70 years. It was an unexpected gift from community members who wanted to help make the celebration even more memorable.
The celebration also included family-friendly games, food and a raffle made possible through the generosity of local businesses and organizations. Their support added excitement throughout the day and helped make the celebration even more special.
A memorable moment came when Lynden Mayor Scott Korthuis presented a proclamation recognizing July 23 as Christian Health Care Center Day in the City of Lynden. The proclamation honored CHCC’s 70 years of serving our community.
Events like this don’t happen without many helping hands. Thank you to our staff, volunteers, board members and anniversary planning committee members who spent months preparing for the celebration and worked before, during and after the event.
Most of all, thank you to the community. Christian Health Care Center was founded by the community, for the community, and your support has made the past 70 years possible. Looking ahead, we remain committed to providing skilled health care with compassion and love in Christ’s name for generations to come.
