Christian Health Care Center took an exciting step forward July 8 with a construction kickoff celebrating the beginning of work on the future hospice suites at CHCC.
Community partners, project leaders and CHCC supporters gathered to mark the occasion, including Lynden Mayor Scott Korthuis, representatives from Exxel Pacific, project designer Carletti Architects, members of the CHCC Board of Trustees and CHCC Foundation Board, staff and consulting advisors.
The event began with a prayer of blessing, followed by remarks from CHCC Executive Director Tonja Myers, who shared the history of the project and thanked those who have helped bring it to this milestone. Lynden Mayor Scott Korthuis also spoke, recognizing the important role CHCC has played in the Lynden community for generations and its continued commitment to serving local families.

One of the highlights of the construction kickoff event was a wall signing and ceremonial wall strike, where attendees donned hard hats and picked up sledgehammers to symbolically begin the transformation of underused space into nine private hospice suites. The interactive activity gave attendees an opportunity to leave their mark on a project that will benefit the community for years to come.
The new hospice suites will provide residents and families with a private, peaceful setting for end-of-life care while expanding access to compassionate hospice services close to home.
Thank you to everyone who joined us as we celebrated this meaningful milestone. We look forward to sharing construction updates as the project progresses.
