At CHCC, we believe in celebrating the exceptional contributions of our team members. Each month, the Shining Star recognition honors individuals. These honorees exemplify dedication, compassion and excellence in their work, inspiring others and enhancing the quality of care we provide. CHCC is a premier skilled nursing center in Whatcom County because of their efforts.
Our non-nursing Shining Star is Makayla H. Makayla is the social worker and also covers admissions on Fridays and Saturdays. She joined CHCC in June 2024 and has quickly embraced the steep learning curve that comes with covering two distinct roles.
Makayla brings humor, kindness and a positive outlook to each day. She is compassionate while maintaining the professional boundaries her role requires. We’re grateful to have her on the team.

Our nursing Shining Star for this past month is Margery C. Margery is an RN who joined the CHCC team in April 2024 and quickly proved to be a smart and capable nurse who handles the pace of rehab with a cheerful attitude.
Margery is kind to everyone and helps others feel at ease. She’s dependable, flexible and always willing to lend a hand. We’re lucky to work alongside her.
