In 2008, CHCC staff organized the first Heroes Day event in Lynden to honor not only those who lost their lives on September 11th, but to also honor local heroes who serve and protect our community.
At that time, we didn’t realize the event would evolve into a celebrated tradition that is attended by all ages. Now here we are, hosting the 7th Annual Heroes Day event on September 11th!
Heroes Day 2014 will begin at 10 am with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by remarks from local dignitaries, singing of the National Anthem and a moment of silence to reflect on those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
There will also be plenty of time to tour first responder vehicles and chat with our community helper friends. The Sugar Shack Ice Cream Truck will be onsite to provide complimentary refreshments.
Activities will wrap up at 11:30 am. Bring the entire family and come join us as we celebrate and honor local and national heroes.
